During the afternoon of November 17, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen held a public roundtable on small business in the District at Steadfast Supply, a pop-up retailer in the Arris. Councilmember Allen, the Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Local Business Development and Utilities, called on a panel of small business leaders to get feedback on the importance of small business and how the District Government can best support them. The panelists stressed that small businesses are increasingly important as we move from a transactional economy to one based on relationships. Beyond the dollars and cents, small businesses help communities connect with one another and provide a space for neighbors to interact with business owners and each other. Small Business Saturday occurs on November 26, and the Capitol Riverfront has many small, locally-owned businesses to choose from!
