2017 continues to be an exciting year for Capitol Riverfront cuisine. Cava Grill, Declaration, and Chef Haidar Karoum's first solo restaurant Chloe, will all open in the neighborhood this year.

Popular fast-casual Greek chain Cava Grill has signed a lease to open in a 2,000 square-foot space at 50 M Street, SE on the ground floor of the Homewood Suites, along with Shake Shack. It will be the sixth location in the District for the local chain.

Presidential Restaurant's Group Declaration restaurant will be located on the ground floor of the Residence Inn by Marriott located at 1233 First Street, SE with entrances from both the street and from the hotel's lobby. The second location of Declaration will be significantly larger than the Shaw location, with a broader menu featuring Philadelphia-oriented menu items like sausage and peppers, cheese steaks and a pretzel appetizer. The restaurant will also have a 24-seat bar and be open daily for lunch or brunch and dinner.

After cooking at DC favorites like Estadio, Proof, and Doi Moi, Chef Karoum will bring a menu consisting of foods he loves to Chloe, opening at Arris (1331 4th Street, SE). Restaurant-goers can enjoy medium sized plates, along with a few larger family style platters like whole fried fish, at dinner. The restaurant will also be open for lunch with sandwiches on house baked bread, noodle bowls, and other relatively quick meals. A menu of bar bites will also be available at the 27-seat bar or the 32-seat outdoor patio.
