Every third Wednesday of the month from June to August, catch the U.S. Marine Band playing in Yards Park while you picnic and take in the views of the Anacostia River. 

Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the United States Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Its mission is unique—to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

June 16 - Free Country: The Marine Band’s contemporary music ensemble, consists of vocalists, a horn section, and rhythm section including piano, guitar, bass, and drums. 

July 21 - Marine Big Band: The Marine Big Band consists of 10-15 musicians on saxophone, trumpet, and trombone, along with a rhythm section including piano, guitar, bass, and drums.

August 18 - Marine Band: This concert band program will feature patriotic marches, orchestral transcriptions and virtuoso solos.
