Description

National Learn to Row Day at Capital

June 6th is National Learn to Row Day sponsored by the United States Rowing Association. Capital Rowing Club will be the Washington DC Metro Area host for National Learn to Row Day.  Learn-to-Row Day is a fun, free clinic designed to introduce the sport of rowing through basic instruction on technique and equipment use.  Participants will have a chance to "row the Anacostia" in training barges and learn rowing technique on the ergometer (rowing machine).  No prior experience is necessary, and no advance sign-up is required.  For more information, please contact: Molly_McCoy@capitalrowing.org.

Capital Rowing Club offers Learn To Row Days (LTRD) for non-members several times during the season. These sessions are open to the public.  Capital members teach the mechanics behind the rowing stroke on land and on water. You will learn the motion of the rowing stroke on the indoor rowing machine, called an ergometer or erg. Then you will move to the water and actually row in a rowing training barge. The barge is a wide-bottomed boat that provides a stable environment for learning the mechanics of rowing before trying them in the more narrow rowing shell.  You may even find yourself trying out the skills you just learned in a rowing shell! Check back on this page for future learn-to-row dates.
